LEOFF1 Disability Board


About

LEOFF 1 is a state retirement system for Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters that was established by state law on March 1, 1970, pursuant to the authority of RCW 41.26.150. On October 1, 1977, LEOFF 1 was replaced by the new retirement system LEOFF II plan. The City of Moses Lake LEOFF 1 Disability Board represents their LEOFF 1 members and was established on June 1, 2011. The Board shall consist of five (5) members:

  • Two Council Members appointed by the Mayor.
  • One Law Enforcement Officer representative active duty or retired elected by the LEOFF 1 members within their department.
  • One Firefighter representative active duty or retired elected by the LEOFF 1 members within their department.
  • One Citizen-at-Large elected by the Board.

Role

The role of the Board is to develop, amend and update the policy and procedures relating to their LEOFF 1 members. The Board also reviews, approves or denies payment of medical/dental expenses, requests for pre-authorization of medical/dental expenditures, disability leaves and applications for retirement.
