Picnic Shelters
OVERVIEW
Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services shelters are available for community use when such use is not in conflict with City programs and policies. The shelter reservation season is April - September, and they may be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment is due in full at the time of reservation. Please note that park rules apply to all shelter reservations, so familiarize yourself with these Park Rules ahead of time. Shelters are available to reserve for either a 4- or 8-hour block (reservation fees listed below).
Reservations
- Online: Please click the link for Active Communities to access the reservation page. Online reservations can be made no less than 7 days in advance.
- Phone*: Please call the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services at 509-764-3805 to make a shelter reservation with staff.
- In-person*: Please visit the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services main office, located inside the Larson Recreation Center at 610 S Yakima Ave, Moses Lake, WA.
Important Notes:
- Reservations for the week of can only be made in-person or over the phone during reservation business hours (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and must be requested no less than 2 full business days in advance.
- Weekend reservations (Saturday & Sunday) for the week of must be made by 5 p.m. on Wednesday of that same week.

Blue Heron Park (3 shelters)
- Burress Shelter will accommodate up to 24 people with additional tables outside the shelter area. It has 3 picnic tables outside the shelter area and a barbeque.
- Lakeview Shelter will accommodate up to 24 people with additional tables outside the shelter area. It has 3 picnic tables outside the shelter area and a barbeque.
- Westlake Shelter will accommodate up to 24 people with additional tables outside the shelter area. It has 3 picnic tables outside the shelter area and a barbeque.
Each shelter is located within Blue Heron Park, so play equipment, restrooms, swimming area, basketball court, and a boat launch are readily accessible.
Cascade Park (2 shelters)
- Kiwanis Shelter will accommodate up to 64 people and has 8 picnic tables. It has a barbecue and play equipment, restroom, boat launch, and shoreline are readily accessible within the park.
- Lioness Shelter will accommodate up to 48 people and has 6 picnic tables. It has a barbecue and play equipment, restroom, boat launch, and shoreline are readily accessible within the park.
Each shelter is located within Cascade Park, so play equipment, restrooms, swimming area, and a boat launch are readily accessible.
Dick Deane Family Shelter
800 South Alder Street
Located outside the Japanese Gardens (seasonal facility), this shelter will accommodate up to 72 people and has 9 picnic tables. This shelter has lights that are on a photo cell, a large barbecue, and restroom readily accessible in the Japanese Gardens.
McCosh Shelter
Located within McCosh Park, this shelter will accommodate up to 64 people and has 8 picnic tables. It has a large barbecue, and both play equipment and restroom are readily accessible. Tennis courts, basketball court, sports court, Skateboard Park, Surf 'n Slide Water Park, and Amphitheatre are located nearby.
Montlake Shelter
Located within Montlake Park, this shelter will accommodate up to 128 people and has 16 picnic tables. It has a large barbecue and play equipment, restrooms, a boat launch and shoreline are readily accessible.
