Illicit Discharges
“Illicit Discharges” are any discharges into the City’s storm system that are not composed entirely of stormwater, with some exceptions. These exceptions can be found in Section 13.02.030 of MLMC.

Dumping of materials into the storm system is not only a bad idea: it’s against the law. This includes the following:
  • Paint or solvents
  • Soaps and detergents
  • Chemicals (herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizer, industrial chemicals, cleaning chemicals, etc)
  • Oil, grease, gasoline or other automotive fluids
  • Household wastes (including cooking grease and oil)
  • Solids and trash
  • Concrete
  • Sewage
  • Yard Waste
  • Swimming pool or spa chemicals
  • Animal waste
 No Dumping into storm drain
If you see a suspicious discharge, or have had a spill and need assistance, please call the Spill Hotline (509)764-3792 during normal business hours, or make an Illicit Discharge Citizen Report .

For calls after hours, or if you feel that this is an emergency, please call the MACC dispatch at (509) 762-1160 and the appropriate personnel will be alerted.
