Introduction to Verdaccio

Tuesday, February 7, 2023

Students will learn the technique of Verdaccio, a layering technique developed in Italy during the early Renaissance. Students will draw the human eye during the session, using soft, blend-able pastel pencils, first creating a neutral underpainting, followed by adding layers of color to add depth and lifelike skin tones. Core lessons include underpainting, color blending, value, and edges, while developing skills in using soft pastels. Students completing their project earlier than others will be presented additional options, including the human nose and mouth. All materials are provided for this class.
Museum members eligible for discounts on classes.
