What is a UBI number?
A UBI number is a Washington State Unified Business Identifier. A UBI number is a 9-digit number that registers you with several state agencies and allows you to do business in Washington State. A UBI number is sometimes called a tax registration number, a business registration number, or a business license number. Apply for a UBI number at the Department of Revenue website, using their business license application form.

How much is a business license?
A standard business license is $85 for a full year. If you are applying after March it will be $63.75, after June it will be $42.50, and after September it will be $21.25. The automatic annual renewal fee is $85.00 if paid by January 31st. A $50.00 penalty will be assessed for late payments.

Where do I apply for a business license?
Go to 401 S. Balsam St. and pick up an application for a new business license from the Finance Department's Utility Billing Counter, or visit Business License Forms on this site.

How do I renew my business license?
Standard and home occupation businesses will be mailed a renewal invoice in December. Return it with payment by Jan. 31 to avoid a late fee. Business owners and all employees of mobile and street food vendors, pawnbrokers, secondhand dealers and taxi cab drivers will need to complete a background check.
