Fall Salon Series: The Whirlwind of History: Telling the Lost Story of Lorinda Bewley in the Whitman Massacre with Judith Gollihar

Wednesday, September 5

A new and updated look at the true story of the 1847 Whitman Massacre (Walla Walla) as told by one survivor, Lorinda Bewley. Bewley’s account of the massacre differs in many ways from the story many accept as historical fact today. Learn how Bewley’s history was functionally erased by the Victorian writers of her day, and how her account and other evidence changes the basic understanding of the conditions and misunderstandings that led to the massacre.
